Taco Bell’s Drive-Thru Diet has seven menu items, which consist of tacos and burritos, that have fewer than nine grams of fat and 400 calories. The Drive-Thru Diet has healthier options because cheese and sauces are substituted with fresco salsa, a fresh and chunky tomato, onion, and cilantro blend. There are additional healthy choices on the regular Taco Bell menu, which are not included in the Drive-Thru Diet, that have under 400 calories and 10 grams of fat.

Note: Taco Bell healthier food items are high in sodium, just as the regular menu items are. However, when eaten in moderation, they can be part of a healthy, sensible diet.

Healthy Taco Bell Tacos

Taco Bell has a number of tacos that are low fat and low calorie. Four of the seven items on the Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet menu are tacos. These include the Fresco Crunchy Taco (7 grams fat, 150 calories), Fresco Soft Taco—Beef (7 grams fat, 180 calories), Fresco Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco (4 grams fat, 170 calories), and Fresco Grilled Steak Soft Taco (4.5 grams fat, 160 calories).

On Taco Bell’s traditional menu, there are three more healthy taco choices. These include the Grilled Chicken Soft Taco (8 grams fat, 200 calories), Crunchy Taco (10 grams fat, 170 calories), and Soft Taco—Beef (9 grams fat, 210 calories).

Healthy Taco Bell Burritos

Taco Bell’s menu has a variety of healthy burrito choices. There are three Drive-Thru Diet burrito options: Fresco Burrito Supreme—Chicken (8 grams fat, 340 calories), Fresco Burrito Supreme—Steak (8 grams fat, 330 calories), Fresco Bean Burrito (8 grams fat, 340 calories). On Taco Bell’s regular menu, the Bean Burrito has 370 calories and 10 grams of fat.

Best Taco Bell Gorditas and Tostada

There are two good gordita choices and one good tostada choice at Taco Bell. The Gordita Nacho Cheese (Chicken) and Gordita Supreme (Chicken) both have 270 calories and 10 grams of fat. The Tostada has 250 calories and 10 grams of fat. These gorditas and tostada can also be ordered fresco style, which reduces the fat and calories by 25%.

Best Taco Bell Sides and Dessert

Three sides and one dessert on Taco Bell’s menu are healthy options. The Pintos ’N Cheese have 180 calories and 7 fat grams. The Mexican Rice has 130 calories and 3.5 fat grams. The Cheese Roll-Up has 200 calories and 10 fat grams. For dessert, the Cinnamon Twists have 170 calories and 7 fat grams.

It is possible to make good food choices at Taco Bell. There are tacos, burritos, gorditas, sides, and more that are low in fat and calories. The fresco items on the Taco Bell Drive-Thru Diet have reduced fat and calories since salsa is used in place of cheese and sauces.
